GreenAssociates is a contributing author to the State of Illinois’ School Construction Guide and is leading seminars for Illinois ASBO on facility renovation, remodeling, and sustainable design.

We work with the CDB and State Board of Education on Illinois First construction grant applications and are a part of the Council of Educational Facility Planners International (CEFPI).

This is the planning, selection, procurement, and installation of all furniture and equipment that support teaching, learning, and daily school activities.

Our structured process ensures spaces are functional, flexible, durable, and aligned with educational goals.

1.    Identifying Your Goals

  • Next Generation furniture and layouts? 

  • Equity between spaces and buildings?

  • Current furniture performance & maintenance? 

  • Student attendance and engagement?

  • Environments meeting academic and social emotional needs?

  • Do spaces foster collaboration and active learning?

2.   Furniture Showcase (Display & Test)

  • Display variety of furniture options 

  • Round 1: Digital surveys for tracking staff and student feedback 

3.   Prototype Classroom (Survey)

  • Outfit 1 classroom per grade level with different options for testing -  
    Ex: mix of single and shared tables, chairs with different bases, etc.

  • Test for a period of time (varies)

  • Round 2: Digital surveys to confirm what is / is not working.

  • Finalize selections for test classrooms. 

4.   Test Classrooms (Confirm)

  • Outfit grouping of classrooms –
    Test furniture for 1A school year.

  • Round 3: Digital Surveys confirm final selections.

5.   Rollout!

Most of our manufacturing partners offer lifetime warranties, giving us peace of mind as we transition to new types of furniture and systems in challenging school environments.
