MOUNT PROSPECT SCHOOL DISTRICT 57
Westbrook School for Young Learners
MOUNT PROSPECT, ILLINOIS
Three phases of thoughtful renovation to meet the needs of early learners.
When enrollment surged at two elementary schools, the Board chose to reopen Westbrook School in 2006 as a dedicated Early Education Center.
Phase I created engaging spaces for the Pre-K program and six kindergarten classrooms, with upgrades including new cabinetry, lighting, flooring, and wall finishes. The Learning Center was transformed into a woodland-inspired hub, complete with a story area, reading loft, and flexible platforms—bringing the theme of “a garden where children grow” to life.
Phase II introduced a new entrance, relocated administrative offices, upgraded HVAC and lighting systems, replaced windows, and improved parking areas.
Phase III refinements in 2010 allowed 1st grade students to join the Westbrook community, consolidating the early grades under one welcoming roof.
