AUDITORIUM RENOVATION
STREATOR TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL 40

Streator High School

STREATOR, ILLINOIS

Preserving history, elevating performance.

Built in 1936 as part of the Works Progress Administration, Streator High School’s historic auditorium has long been a community landmark.

While its Art Deco exterior remained a source of pride, the interior performance space was outdated—featuring narrow 17-inch seats, no air conditioning or fresh air system, aging finishes, and decades-old lighting and audio-visual technology.

The school district committed to preserving the auditorium’s historic character while transforming it into a modern, NextGeneration performance venue.  All mechanical, electrical, plumbing, rigging, lighting, and audio-visual systems was replaced, and the interior finishes renewed to honor the building’s original Art Deco design.

The result is a fully restored, technologically advanced space where history and high performance take center stage.
