Saint John Chrysostomos Monastery
Panagia Gorgoepikoos Chapel
This basilica-style chapel is a rectangular structure constructed as an addition to an existing building. The chapel was designed in the traditional basilica style, featuring two rows of self-supporting arches running its length and terminating at a curved apse behind the altar. The aisles formed by the arches have roofs that are lower than the main body of the chapel. The exo-narthex includes three large stone arches leading to the narthex.
The exterior is adorned with hand-cut stone, intricately detailed masonry, a Spanish clay tile roof, and exposed stained cedar rafter tails. A bell tower stands adjacent to the exo-narthex.
An arched, covered walkway leads pilgrims to the main entrance of the adjacent building.
