Transforming an aging school for the future.

Serving fourth and fifth grade students, the school needed additional classrooms after Special Education and Dual Language programs were consolidated here. The aging facility also required significant modernization. The renovation and addition expanded capacity while creating a bright, flexible, and inclusive learning environment.

Four new classrooms support the expanded programs, while flexible furniture, updated staff spaces, a new nurse’s suite, and upgraded food service improve functionality. A new multipurpose room, designed to meet IHSA volleyball regulations, accommodates athletics, assemblies, dining, school events, and community gatherings.

Natural light, new windows, LED lighting, updated ceilings, flooring, and contemporary finishes unify the renovated building and addition. Colorful accents and purple locker cubbies reinforce school identity, while durable materials and acoustic panels enhance the MPR’s performance and personality.

Sustainability is central to the project, with geothermal heating and cooling, high-performance windows, upgraded HVAC, and LED lighting improving efficiency, comfort, and long-term operating costs. Recyclable PET acoustic panels and carbon-neutral flooring further reduce environmental impact.

Safety was enhanced with a secure vestibule and layered visitor-entry system. Controlled access, identification verification, and a secure transaction window strengthen security while maintaining a welcoming experience.

These improvements transform an aging facility into an adaptable school supporting students, staff, and the broader community.
