Transforming circulation, security, and learning spaces across the campus.

GreenAssociates developed a comprehensive master plan to address Washburne School’s key challenges—streamlining circulation, creating a secure main entry, and enhancing athletic, music, and science facilities. Over two years, the addition and renovation work impacted more than 70% of the school’s footprint.

Phase I introduced a new three-station gymnasium, doubling as an all-school gathering space. Support areas include locker rooms, storage, a cardio/kinetic room, and a dance studio.

Phase II transformed two existing gyms into modern science labs and band/orchestra rooms.

A second-story terrace was enclosed to create an expanded administrative suite at the school’s front entry.

A striking two-story glass atrium now welcomes visitors and connects the north and south wings, while former office space was repurposed into specialized learning areas.

​

The Learning Resource Center was relocated for more central access, and the project also brought sustainable design to the forefront with new green roofs—now alive with blooming wildflowers.
