Oliver McCracken Middle School
Skokie School District 73.5
After years of steady growth and state mandated curriculum changes, McCracken Middle School became overcrowded. To ease the space crunch, the Board of Education and the community agreed to provide students and teachers with much-needed additional teaching and learning spaces.
Blending seamlessly with the existing school building, the new two-story addition added three science labs, one general use classroom, a multipurpose room, a technology lab, and a space for the school’s instrumental music program.
Students welcome the new space; they can do their science experiments in real, working science labs and practice their instruments in a dedicated, acoustically tuned space after years of rehearsing in halls and cafeteria.
