What is a School to architects? So much brick and mortar? Another construction project that has to meet a budget and a schedule?

Better hope not. Because a school isn't so much a building for keeping children in. It's the foundation on which to build their futures and the platform for launching their hopes and dreams. A really good design will be flexible enough to change with curriculum, friendly enough to invite students to study joyfully, and noble enough to foster respect for learning.

Moreover, a school isn't just for kids. It's also a fountain of youth for grown-ups. Think of it: a town hall, an athletic field, a reference center, a theater, a concert hall, a wellspring of continuing education, all in one place.

In fact, the character of an entire community is bound up with that of schools. And where does a school get its character? Well, in large part, from its architecture.

For us at GreenAssociates, this is a great responsibilty. That's why we do not mass-produce schools. That's why we work in close cooperation with educators and community leaders to design each school to fit the unique qualities of its community.

Yet, it's more than a responsibilty. It's a wonderful opportunity. Because we believe that if we dedicate ourselves anew to each project, and bring to it all our skill and all that modern technology can provide, not only will we be part of our children's tomorrows, but we will also add to the health, value, and growth of each community. After all, we will be creating much more than beautiful and lasting buildings. We will be creating beautiful and lasting schools.
