NILES TOWNSHIP DAYCARE CENTER

Skokie, Illinois

Daycare Center Entrance

Niles Township Daycare Center, originally housed in the existing Administration Building, was in need of space.  The room was outdated and too small.  The Township decided to construct a new building on the south portion of the site to better serve the children.

The new building incorporates abundant natural light, high ceilings, room darkening shades, ample storage space, and a plan that ensures a secure environment. The scale of the center is in keeping with the residential character present to the west and south.

Warm red brick, creamy colored stucco, and brown shingles provide a friendly palette. Vibrant red and tan glazed brick at the entries provide visual interest.

The building and parking lot were sited so that all existing mature trees were saved.  A larger play area and equipment was donated to the Township.

The project also included an addition to the Administration Building, providing more space for Food Pantry services, which had previously been in the basement. The exterior of this addition matches the Daycare Center across from the new parking lot.
